Finishing up Brownie’s Adventure the Final Resolution…

The story so far!

This is the first game I’ve developed that involved more than just myself. And it’s made a big impact.

Our audio game (for adventure game studio standards) is pretty strong. Working with a local sound designer (Jono Richards) I’ve been able to implement some much better, richer and more ‘clever’ audio effects.

It’s been quite fun to try and recreate more complicated audio systems within Adventure game studio. It’s been quite a good learning exercise. ‘Asynchronous loops’, ‘panning’ and ‘emitters’. Yes! I’m slowly moving into the 21st century.

The game mechanically and story wise… is complete! I’ve play tested it for 30/40 hours now. My lists get shorter each run and I feel like it’s at a point where it’s pretty much release ready. Anything more now is further development rather than ‘polish’.

But I am just an accidental developer. I never intended this. I just wanted to make a learning project… but then I slipped on a banana skin and released it on steam. And now we’re on 26/26 positive steam reviews and around 1000 sales across steam/GOG. Oh boy!

Oh, and this is entirely mouse/tablet drawn… 80+ locations with animated backgrounds. 45 dialogue trees… I’ve drawn over 4390 sprites at the point of writing this. This is a much bigger game in every way. And I’m 100% sure - the best ever by far.

But we are just men with daytime jobs and a budget of zero. So sadly my initial (rather optimistic) release date has been pushed back to Summer 2026. It doesn’t feel like a REAL point and click indie project unless we have at LEAST six months of release delays…

Snail be praised!
